Lagina Work Helps Ready Airport for Southwest Airlines' Entrance into Milwaukee Market
Sept. 16 , 2009 -- Southwest Airlines’ entrance into the Milwaukee market is being facilitated by the plumbing work of Lagina Plumbing.
The Milwaukee-based commercial plumbing company is remodeling plumbing systems in General Mitchell International Airport Concourse D space to accommodate Southwest, which is expected to start offering flights to and from Milwaukee in November.
"Having flown Southwest out of Chicago for the last 10 years, we can now do it directly from Milwaukee; hooray!," said Jim Lagina, company president.
The plumbing system work will provide a piping connection for the planes, the deicing system, the food preparation area and the beverage processing area.
"Employees and customers of Southwest will have a state-of-the-art area when the airline begins flights here in November,” Lagina said.
Milwaukee is the fourth new city that Southwest will serve this year; others are Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York (La Guardia) and Boston.
Lagina Plumbing’s work on the Southwest Airlines concourse is in addition to existing work the company is doing on mall level restroom upgrades at the airport.
The concourse work came on the referral of Castlerock Construction, one of Lagina Plumbing’s newest partners. Hunt Construction of Indianapolis is the general contractor on the two-story concourse project.
