Lagina Helping in Development of Jackson Square Apartments

May 6 , 2009 – Work has begun on a five-story executive apartment building in Milwaukee’s Third Ward. Developer Robert Joseph is putting up the Jackson Square Apartments at the corner of Menomonee and Jackson streets, being developed with Lagina Plumbing Co. handling the plumbing systems.

The building will have 81 units and 9,000 square feet of retail space. Total square footage is 196,000. Along with traditional apartment units -- that will each have one and a half bathrooms, the building will have two-story townhouse units on its upper floors.

Lagina Plumbing is handling complete interior plumbing work and also is working with the owner’s engineering firm to creatively deal with poor soils at the site. Plumbing piping will be worked into a “floating slab” at the base of the deep excavation.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to work with Robert Joseph’s company to build a top-of-the-line executive apartment building,” said Jim Lagina, president of the commercial plumbing company. “After having worked with Robert’s father Leon many years ago, building similar structures, we believe our companies will work well together to produce a fine finished product.”

Work is expected to be completed in the summer of 2010.
